In less than two weeks Gary and I will be headed off to Hawaii! A dear friend of mine is getting married in (on?) Oahu and we can’t wait for our trip. It’ll be both our first times visiting. Do you have any recommendations for us? We’ll be staying in Waikiki but are open to venturing the whole island. I’m usually pretty good about researching and scheduling a whole itinerary but there’s so much to do that I’m a bit overwhelmed. We’re not too interested in doing anything too touristy unless it’s worth while. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, especially for food! We’ve already got Leonard’s on the list! As much as I wish I were wearing all of the above, my clothing budget has already reached its limit. I still need a dress for the wedding though!

alica’s plate lunch in kalihi is always my first stop when i go home. i order the small mix plate with chinese roast pork and shoyu ahi poke. morning glass breakfast ciabattas in manoa, andy’s sandwiches in manoa, wailoa shave ice (passion fruit, guava, lilikoi combo with condensed milk is my favorite), tokkuri tei for the most incredible japanese/hawaiian fusion food (order the tempura nori chips with spicy ahi on top), lanikai juice makes great acai bowls that are perfect for enjoying on or after the beach. and it’s “on” oahu
